Circular saws, the higher the cutting speed, the cleaner the cut surface, the height of the cutting speed limited by frictional heat (influenced by cooling).

Band saws (0.5 mm pushed), curved cuts, etc. (feed 0.1 – 0.3 mm at approx. 1000 – 1500 m / min).



Planing machines as common in woodworking. Only sharp blades bring a smooth surface. On the shaft 4 knives should be arranged.



By means of spiral or pointed drill, cutting speed approx. 40-70m / min.



Normal milling machines, but especially high-speed routers. Milling tools with a low number of teeth provide good chip removal.



Because of the high melt viscosity, St 1000 can only be joined by friction or stub welding. In butt welding, the surfaces to be welded and cleaned on the heating mirror are heated at 200 to 220 ° C under low contact pressure until a layer of about 4 mm has become plastic on both sides. Under the contact pressure of 10 to 20 kp / cm³, the parts are pressed against each other until they cool. If the parts to be welded are blocks over 30 mm thick, then a contact pressure of 50 kp / cm³ and more is required. For this purpose, often presses or special welding devices are used.
